Step Up & Scale Down Online is a 12 week Nutrition Education Program designed to promote habits such as physical activity and healthy eating that encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Program Goals:

Participants will lose weight.

Participants will increase physical activity.

Participants will use the new MyPlate in meal planning.

Participants will increase their intake of fruits and vegetables.

Step Up & Scale Down is a researched-based program based on the USDA 2015 Dietary Guidelines, intended to help Americans choose a healthful eating plan within their calorie requirements to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. The Dietary Guidelines provide sound scientific information about how proper dietary habits can promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases.

In addition to weekly Online lessons, participants will receive tips, menus, and recipes to help keep you on track toward reaching your goals. Participants will also have an opportunity to chat with others during weekly Online chat sessions facilitated by a group leader, as well as optional weekly weigh-ins!

Step Up Scale Down is a 12-week wellness program, based on USDA guidelines and scientific research. Each week focuses on a different topic related to nutrition, healthy eating, exercise, and more to support you in your weight loss journey. Participants will receive a caloric needs calculation (completed at the first session), a weight loss tracker, a recipe book, and other materials designed to assist you in being successful.

We are pleased to be able to offer you this program in a hybrid format (6 weeks online, and 6 weeks in-person), to allow you to access course materials on your own time while still maintaining accountability at the every other week in-person sessions. In-person sessions will include a CONFIDENTIAL weigh-in, a presentation of the week's course material, time for questions and answers, and a healthy recipe sample. FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO TAKE CHARGE OF THEIR HEALTH!

Since the session is from noon to 12:45pm, you are encouraged to bring your lunch with you to the class, to enjoy while you participate.

An awards ceremony will be held on Monday April 22, following the last week. Prizes will be awarded for the most in-person sessions completed, most weight lost during the 12 weeks, and most check-ins at the gym!
